A Good Year is the working title for my next novel. The title stems from A Good Man. I have learned as I wrote that novel that the subject matter of A Good Man is constricting, determining character and tone. I would like greater freedom in the development of the narrative possibilities. I may then change the title. For now I shall research 1907 with a view to identifying possible story-lines.

Clara Grant
Clara Grant, the bundle woman of Bow, set up the Fern Street Settlement in 1907 to help poor families. Every Saturday she handed out small packages of toys to any child small enough to walk under her wooden arch made for the purpose.
